Use Lucidspark on interactive whiteboard devices

Supported devices

Before you can walk up and whiteboard with your preferred device, you may need to do some setup. The steps to do this vary based on the type of device you are using. Click the links below to be taken to the corresponding device’s setup steps.

• Avocor (H Series): Avocor H Series devices have Lucid pre-installed on them. No setup required.
• Google Meet Hardware (Avocor Board 65/Desk 27): A Google Workspace Admin must enable the add-on for Google Meet devices.
• Neat: Neat devices need to be configured to the Neat Pulse system. For more information, check out this article from Neat’s help center.
  • You can also use a Neat device that has been configured as a Zoom Rooms device. If this applies to you, follow the steps in this article.
• Webex: Lucid must be added to the device’s home screen. For steps, check out our Integrate Lucidspark with Webex article.
• Zoom Rooms: The Lucid app needs to be enabled for Zoom Rooms-configured devices through the Zoom admin portal. For more information, check out this documentation from Zoom.
• Other web-enabled devices: On web-enabled whiteboard devices such as Microsoft Surface Hub, you can access Lucid through the device's browser.

Open a Lucidspark board

Once you complete setup for the device you’re using, you can walk up to the device and immediately start whiteboarding—no login required.

From a supported board device

To open Lucidspark from a supported device (listed above), follow these steps:

1. Access the Lucidspark app:
   • From an Avocor device: Press Lucidspark Whiteboard.
   • From a Google Meet device: Press Whiteboard, then Lucidspark.
   • From a Neat or Webex device: Press Lucid Whiteboard.
   • From a Zoom Rooms device: Press Apps, then Lucidspark.
2. Press Create a new board or open an existing board by following the steps in the Cast an existing Lucid document section below.

From another web-enabled device

You can walk up and whiteboard with Lucidspark on other devices if they’re web-enabled. To do so:

1. Open a web browser on the device.
2. Enter this URL: https://integration.lucid.app/largetouch/spark/standalone
   1. If you’re using Microsoft Surface Hub, follow the prompt at the top of your Microsoft Edge browser to install lucid.app as a PWA (progressive web app).
3. Press Create a new board or open an existing board by following the steps in the Cast an existing Lucid document section below.

Cast an existing Lucid document

Cast an existing Lucidchart document or Lucidspark board to a whiteboard device from your phone, tablet, or laptop and edit it directly from a whiteboard device. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Open an existing Lucid document on your phone, laptop, or tablet.
2. Select the More menu from the upper-left of the workspace.
   • In Lucidchart, hover your cursor over "Share" after opening the More menu.
3. Click Cast this board.
4. On the whiteboard device, follow the steps in the Open a Lucidspark board section above.
5. Back in Lucid, enter the 8-digit code that appears on the right-hand side of the whiteboard device.
   
6. Click Cast.

You can now edit the Lucid document from the whiteboard device. To stop casting, exit the Lucid app on the whiteboard device.

Available features

When using Lucidspark on a whiteboard device, a curated selection of features are available to give you the optimal brainstorming experience. Here are a few we recommend:

• Sticky notes: Quickly add your ideas to the board.
  • Tag: Organize sticky notes by adding custom tags.
  • Sort: Sort existing sticky notes by tag or color.
• Freehand drawing: Write or draw with your finger or a whiteboard pen.
  • Magic shapes: Automatically convert freehand drawings into Lucidspark shapes.
• Freehand select: Select specific objects on the board by drawing a circle around them.
• Visual Activities: Make decisions using interactive activities to gather team feedback.
• Templates: Choose a pre-made template from Lucid’s Template Gallery to get ideas flowing.
• Timer: Structure your brainstorming session with a timer.
• Laser pointer: Direct the attention of others by using the laser pointer to indicate certain objects on the board.

Share with collaborators

After accessing Lucidspark on a whiteboard device, you can share the board to work with collaborators, regardless of their location. This feature enables collaboration in diverse settings: work with colleagues in a meeting room, engage with remote teammates in real time, or blend both for a hybrid collaboration experience.

To share a Lucidspark board from a whiteboard device, follow these steps:

1. Press Share in the top-right corner of the Lucidspark board on the whiteboard device.
2. Toggle on “Enable Collaboration” to allow collaborators to join.
3. A 6-digit Join ID will be generated that you can copy and share with collaborators.

Send a board to your Lucid account

When you’re done brainstorming, send your Lucidspark board to your Lucid account if you want to save your work. For security purposes, if the board is not shared after 15 minutes of inactivity, users will be prompted to keep the session open. If there is no response or activity on the board, the session will time out and the document and progress will be deleted.

Save a board

To send a Lucidspark board to your Lucid account for future access, follow these steps:

1. Press Save in the top-left corner of the Lucidspark board on the whiteboard device.
2. Input an email address to send the board to.
   • You can input up to five email addresses. The first user to claim the board becomes the document owner. Any users that attempt to claim the board after it has been claimed will not be able to do so.
     

Claim a board

After a share email has been sent from the whiteboard device, ownership must be claimed within 24 hours from a personal device. For security purposes, Lucid deletes the board if it hasn’t been claimed within that time.

To claim the board from a personal device:

1. Open the email with the Lucidspark board invitation.
2. Click Claim board.
3. Log in to Lucid.
   • You will be redirected to a Lucid login or sign up page, depending on whether you have an existing account.
4. View or continue editing your board.
