Create a new tag

In Lucidchart
To create a new tag in Lucidchart:

1. Select the sticky note, shape, image or text box you want to tag.
2. Click the Contextual Panel icon from the top-right corner of the workspace.
3. Under “Attributes”, select Add tag.
4. Type a name for the new tag in the “Create tag” text field that appears near the shape.
5. Click the fill color icon to the right of the text field to select a specific color for the tag.
6. Press “Enter” on your keyboard or click Create New Tag.

Repeat the process to add additional tags. Note that the tag color will automatically change for each new tag you create. 

In Lucidspark
To create a new tag in Lucidspark:

1. Select the sticky note, shape, image or text box you want to tag.
2. Click the tag icon from the context menu. 
3. Type a name for the new tag in the “Create tag” text field.
4. Click the fill color icon to the right of the text field to select a specific color for the tag.
5. Press “Enter” on your keyboard or click Create New Tag.

Repeat the process to add additional tags. Note that the tag color will automatically change for each new tag you create. 

Use quick tag

Quick tag mode allows you to toggle between taggable objects and add tags to them without having to locate them on the canvas. You can toggle between these shapes by clicking on the arrow keys or pressing "Shift + Tab + Enter" on your keyboard. The progress text at the top of the pop-out menu shows you which object you have selected out of the total taggable objects.

Add an existing tag to an object

Tags that are currently applied to a shape appear with a solid color fill. Existing tags not applied to a selected shape appear with a transparent background.

In Lucidchart
To apply an existing tag to a selected shape in Lucidspark:

1. Select an object on the canvas.
2. Click the Contextual Panel icon from the top-right corner of the workspace.
3. Under “Attributes”, select Add tag.
4. Select an existing tag from the panel that appears near the shape.

In Lucidspark
To apply an existing tag to a selected shape in Lucidspark:

1. Select an object on the canvas.
2. Click the tag icon from the context menu.
3. Select an existing tag from the panel that appears near the shape.
    

To search for a tag, use the search bar at the top of the tag pop-out menu. The search will include tags that are applied to any shape on the board, not only the one selected. 

Edit a tag

After creating your tags, you can edit them by clicking Edit tags at the bottom of the pop-out menu. From here you can:

• Delete a tag by clicking the Trash icon that appears to the right of the tag. 
• Edit the text of a tag by typing new text in the text field.
• Change the color of a tag by clicking the fill color dot to the right of the tag to choose a different color.
• Change the order that tags appear on an object by clicking the six-dot icon to the left of a tag and dragging it to a new position. 
• Add a new tag by clicking + New tag.

Gather and sort objects using tags

After creating tags for your objects in Lucidspark, you can use them to synthesize and organize your ideas. To collect objects that have a specific tag, use Lucidspark’s Gather tool. For example, if you and your collaborators brainstormed ideas and tagged them by priority, you might use the Gather tool to collect all ideas you tagged as “high priority.” 

To sort all of your objects by tag, use Lucidspark’s Sort tool. For example, if you and your collaborators listed tasks for an upcoming project and tagged them by the person responsible for that task, you might use the Sort tool to organize the tasks by each person involved in the project.
