Lucid Cards are an integral part of visual planning, helping users move from ideation to planning. With Lucid Cards, you can create customizable shapes and add details as you brainstorm ideas and organize information. Lucid Cards work seamlessly with Timelines and Dynamic Tables as well as our airfocus, Jira, Azure DevOps, and Smartsheet integrations.
Plan availability: Individual, Team, and Enterprise.
- Available on FedRAMP accounts.
- While the remainder of the functionality is available, converting Lucid Cards to Smartsheet, airfocus, Azure DevOps is not available to users in the FedRAMP environment.

Add Lucid Cards to a board
Add Lucid Cards in Lucidspark
To add a Lucid Card to a Lucidspark board, follow these steps:
- Click
the More tools icon from the Primary Toolbar on the left-side of the canvas.
- Open
the Card menu in the panel that appears.
- Select Lucid Card.

Click anywhere on your board.
- You can also click and drag the Card shape onto your board.
Tip: Drag the Lucid Card icon from the “More tools” menu into the Primary Toolbar to pin it to the main portion of the toolbar.
Add Lucid Cards in Lucidchart
To add a Lucid Card to a Lucidchart document, follow these steps:
- Select
the shapes icon in the Primary Toolbar to the left of the canvas.
- Click More shapes at the bottom of the Shape menu.
- Check the box next to “Team Planning” under the standard library options on the left side of the panel.
- Click Use selected shapes in the bottom-right corner.
- From the “Team Planning” shape library in the shape menu, drag
a Lucid Card onto the canvas.
Convert an existing shape
Convert an existing shape on the workspace into a Lucid Card by following these steps:
- Right-click a shape or sticky note.
- Hover your cursor over “Convert to card”.
- Choose Lucid Card or one of the integration card options such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or Asana.
- If you select an integration, click Convert in the panel that appears.
Import Lucid Cards from a CSV
In Lucidspark, you can import a CSV of data to create Lucid Cards in bulk by following these steps:

In a Lucidspark board, select
the More menu.
- Hover your cursor over Insert.
- Select CSV.
- Click Lucid Cards.
- Select a file from your device.
- Use the dropdowns to match columns of the CSV with fields on the Lucid Card.
- Select Confirm.
Customize a Lucid Card
Edit Lucid Card details
- Select a Lucid Card.
- Add details to the card:
- In Lucidspark, click
the pencil icon in the context menu that appears.
- In Lucidchart, the context panel opens automatically on the right of the canvas.
- In Lucidspark, click
- In the menu that appears, edit existing fields or add new ones by clicking Create new fields.
After you have added a card detail, you can edit it directly on the Lucid Card as well.
Add a custom field to a Lucid Card
You can add the following custom fields to a Lucid Card:
- Text
- Number
- Date
- Single-select
- Multi-select
- Person
To add a custom field to a Lucid Card, follow these steps:
- Select a Lucid Card on the canvas.
- Add details to the card:
- In Lucidspark, click
the pencil icon in the context menu that appears.
- In Lucidchart, the context panel opens automatically on the right of the canvas.
- In Lucidspark, click
- Click + Create new fields from the bottom of the panel that appears on the right side of the page.
- Select a field type.
- Type a name for the field and customize settings as needed.
- To display the field on the card face instead of only in the details panel, check the box next to "Show field on card face".
- Click Done.
Note: You can only add custom fields from within Lucid to generic Lucid Cards. While integrated cards like Jira and ADO also support custom fields, they must be created in the system of record rather than in Lucid.
Customize field settings
You can customize the fields on your Lucid Cards by determining which to include on the card face and the order in which they appear. To do so:
- Select a Lucid Card.
- Add details to the card:
- In Lucidspark, click
the pencil icon in the context menu that appears.
- In Lucidchart, the context panel opens automatically on the right of the canvas.
- In Lucidspark, click
- Select Settings in the top-right corner of the menu that appears.
From the settings, you can:
- Click and drag fields to reorganize them on the card’s face.
- Click and drag fields into and out of the “Hide from card face” section.

Click
the Edit custom field icon to rename or delete a field.
Note: If there isn’t data in a field, the field won’t appear on the card even if you move it into the visible section. Add data to the field so that it can appear.
Convert a Lucid Card to Jira, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet, airfocus, or Asana
In Lucidspark
- Select one or more Lucid Cards.
- Click.
the wizard hat icon from the context menu.
- Select an integration option.
- If you have not authenticated your Lucid account with Jira, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet, airfocus, or Asana, you will be prompted to log in at this step.
- Follow the prompts in the panel to edit fields and convert the card.
In Lucidchart
- Right-click one or more Lucid Cards.
- Hover your cursor over “Convert to card”.
- Select an integration option.
- If you have not authenticated your Lucid account with Jira, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet, airfocus, or Asana, you will be prompted to log in at this step.
- Follow the prompts in the panel to edit fields and convert the card.
Convert a Lucid Card to Azure DevOps
- Select one or more Lucid Cards.
- Click
the wizard hat icon.

Select
the Azure DevOps icon.
- If you have not authenticated your Lucid account with Azure DevOps, you will be prompted to log in at this step.
- Type details in the fields.
- Select Convert.
Convert a Lucid Card to Asana
- Select one or more Lucid Cards.
- Click
the wizard hat icon.
- Select
the Asana icon.
- If you have not authenticated your Lucidspark account with Asana, you will be prompted to log in at this step.
- Type details in the fields.
- Select Create.
