Timelines in Lucidspark allow you to visualize past events or future plans. Pair them with Lucid Cards for enhanced project management, roadmaps, school projects, and presentations.

Plan availability: Individual, Team, and Enterprise.

Add a Timeline to the canvas

To add a new Timeline to a Lucidspark board, follow these steps:

  1. Click organizers-icon-from-lucidspark-primary-toolbar.png the Organizers icon from the Primary Toolbar on the left-side of the canvas.
  2. Select Timelines from the menu that appears.
  3. Click anywhere on the canvas.
    • You can also click and drag the timeline from the Primary Toolbar onto the canvas.

Add a Lucid Card to a Timeline

There are a couple of ways you can add a Lucid Card to a Timeline:

  • Double-click the space on the Timeline where you want a new card to appear.
  • Drag an existing card on the canvas onto the Timeline.

Drag an existing card onto a Timeline

When dragging an existing card onto a Timeline, you have two options that determine where the Lucid Card is placed:

  • Drag the card and hover over a specific date on the timeline. Once a shaded box appears on the date you want, drop the card. Using this method overrides any existing dates on the Lucid Card, updating it to reflect the new date's position on the Timeline.

  • Drag the card and drop it quickly anywhere on the Timeline. By doing this, the card is placed automatically depending on the Lucid Card’s date.

  • Dates on Lucid Cards update automatically when a card is moved on the Timeline.
  • Dates on Lucid Cards update automatically when changes are made in the original source (Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.).
  • Lucid Cards added to a Timeline are automatically placed according to the card’s date as described in the section above.
  • Dates in the original source are updated when a Lucid Card is moved in a Timeline.

To sync date fields, follow these steps:

  1. Select an integrated Lucid Card on the canvas.
  2. Click edit-details-in-lucidspark-icon.png the Edit details icon.

  6. Select a field from each dropdown menu.
    • The options are generated from date fields in the original source.
    • You must have edit access to the field in the original source.
    • The field you select for “Start date” is used as the start date in the Timeline. The field you select for “End date” is used as the end date.
  7. Check the box next to “Apply mappings to every project in this Jira instance” if you want to sync these fields across all projects.
