To enable organizations to use Lucidchart or and Lucidspark as a hub for storing and sharing information, Lucid offers an exclusive option for users on an Enterprise account: the option to be a limited-access user.
Plan availability: Enterprise only.
- Available on FedRAMP accounts.
- Read the Lucid Plans article for more information about what is available on your account or the Upgrade your Lucid account article for instructions to upgrade.
Limited-access users
Limited-access users are not factored into your license count. They can view documents made by other users on their account, but cannot create or edit them. Conversely, users with licenses are factored into your license count and have full document creation and editing capabilities. Limited-access users can request a license, which will only be granted based on your account's license request settings. The table below summarizes the differences between limited-access users and licensed users.
| Limited-access user | Licensed user | |
|---|---|---|
| Own documents owned prior to joining Enterprise account | Available | Available |
| Manage their documents (e.g., delete/restore) | Available with relevant document permissions | Available with relevant document permissions |
| Import files into Lucidchart and Lucidspark | Not available | Available |
| Download documents | Available | Available |

Set up limited-access users
Customize licensing settings to support limited-access users
As an admin, you can customize the account to determine how user licensing works. Any users that join or are added when no licenses are available will be added as limited-access users.
Limited-access users can request a license by clicking the limited-access button on a document and selecting Request Edit Access. Depending on your account’s licensing settings, they will either automatically receive a license or their request will be added as a pending request in the Users page of the admin panel.

Delicense a user
To convert an existing user on your Enterprise account into a limited-access user, you need to delicense them. During this process, their documents will be transferred to another licensed user on the account. For more details and instructions, refer to the Delicense a user section of our User Management article.
