Customize download settings

Depending on the file format you are downloading, you can customize various elements of the file’s format.

Crop (all file formats)

For PDFs, PNGs, JPEGs, and SVGs, you can crop your document before downloading.

  • Select Crop to content to remove any whitespace around the contents of your document.
  • Select Custom Crop to customize the area selection that will appear in your downloaded file.

Quality (JPEG, PNG)

For JPEGs or PNGs, you can adjust the quality of the image file. Select one of the following options from the “Quality” dropdown:

  • Current zoom level
  • Screen quality
  • Print quality

Show individual layers (PDF in Lucidchart)

To export each layer of a Lucidchart document on a separate page, select PDF from the export options, and toggle on “Show Individual Layers” in the download settings.

Divide by page tiles (PDF in Lucidchart)

When downloading to PDF, you can divide your Lucidchart document by page tiles. To do so, select Divide by Page Tiles in the "Content" section of your export options. When you select this option, Lucidchart will treat page tiles in the same way it treats individual pages, which means you may get a multi-page downloaded file.

To see page tiles in the editor:

  1. Open more-menu-icon the More menu from the top-left of the canvas.
  2. Hover your cursor over “File”.
  3. Click Document Settings.
  4. Under "Canvas and page" settings, toggle on “Show page tiling”. If this option appears grayed out, make sure "Infinite canvas" is toggled off.
    • You can also adjust the size of your page tiles from here.

FAQ

Can I print my document on multiple pages?
Yes. You can download or print your document on multiple pages by enabling auto tiling in the document settings. When auto tiling is toggled on, the boundaries of each individual page become visible on the workspace. From the Document Settings you can adjust the size of the page tiles.

Once auto tiling is enabled, choose PDF as the file format when exporting or printing, and select Divide by Page Tiles in the export or print settings. For more information about adjusting document settings, check out our Adjust document and board settings article.

How do layers in Lucidchart impact my exported document?
When you export a Lucidchart document as a PDF, you can choose to export each layer individually by toggling on “Show Individual Layers”. In all other instances, your download will show layers based on when you last clicked Sync Visibility in the layers panel. For more information, check out our Add layers to a Lucidchart document article.

Do Actions and links work on exported Lucidchart documents?
Actions such as toggling conditional formatting and layers will not work on an exported document. Links will work only if you export your document as a PDF, but not with any other file type. For more information, check out our Add an Action or link to a shape in Lucidchart article.

Do comments, tasks, and notes appear on exported Lucid documents?
No. Collaboration tools such as comments, tasks, and notes do not appear on exported versions of Lucid documents.

Can I export all of my documents at the same time?
No. Bulk export is not available.
