Presentation mode in Lucidchart and Lucidspark allows you to transform your document or board into a slide deck presentation with just a few clicks. Read on to learn how to use presentation mode in Lucidchart and Lucidspark.

Create a presentation

To create a presentation and set the default slide settings, select the Presentation Builder icon from the top-right corner of a Lucidchart document or Lucidspark board.

Click + Add New Slide to add a slide to your presentation. A container will appear on the workspace representing the contents of the slide.

To move the slide container to a different location on your canvas, hover your cursor over the slide until a four-pronged arrow appears, then click and drag the slide. Manually adjust the size of a slide by hovering your cursor over a corner of the slide, then clicking and dragging to resize.

Tip: The Standard shape library in Lucidchart has a Presentation Frame shape. Click and drag this shape onto the canvas to quickly create a slide.

Customize a presentation

From the Presentation Builder, you can customize your presentation in the following ways:

Adjust the Aspect Ratio of all of the slides in your presentation by selecting the box in the upper left-hand corner of the Presentation Builder panel.
Set the Transition Duration by clicking the timer icon.
Toggle on "Always Show Slides" to keep the slides visible on your canvas when you are not in presentation mode.
Adjust the size of a presentation slide by selecting the border of the slide, then clicking and dragging from one of the corners.
Reorder slides in the Presentation Builder panel by clicking and dragging.

Customize individual slides

From the Presentation Builder panel, you can customize individual slides by hovering over a slide and selecting the three-dot menu. From the menu, you can:

Set a transition duration to adjust the time interval between slides.
Insert a slide before or after the selected slide.
Delete a slide to remove it from the builder and the canvas.
Highlight selected shapes to call attention to certain shapes on the board. This adds a blurring effect to shapes that are not highlighted within the same slide.
- To remove the effect of highlighted shapes, click the three-dot menu from the Presentation Builder and select Remove selected shapes.

Adjust layer visibility (Lucidchart only)

To adjust the layer visibility of an individual slide in Lucidchart:

Select a slide in the Presentation Builder panel.
Click the three-dot menu.
Select Visible Layers.
Check the box next to the layers you want visible.
Click Save.

Export a presentation

You can export a presentation to Google Slides or as a PDF file by following the steps below.

Export to Google Slides

Select the Presentation Builder icon.
Click Send to Google Slides.
- This option will appear after you have created at least one slide on your Lucid document.

If this is your first time sending a presentation to Google Slides, you may be prompted to link Lucid to Google Drive.

Export slides to PDF

Locate the Export menu:
- In Lucidchart, select File from the menu bar.
- In Lucidspark, select the More menu.
Hover over the Export menu.
Click Slides to PDF.

FAQ

Can I change the dimensions of an individual slide?
Yes. To change the dimensions of an individual slide, open the Presentation Builder and set the Aspect Ratio to “Custom”. You can now select an individual slide from the canvas and use the dots in the corners to resize the slide to any dimensions you choose.

Why are some shapes on my slide blurred?
When some shapes on the board are blurred but not others, it means the highlight selected shapes function is enabled. This feature calls attention to selected shapes by highlighting them and blurring shapes that are not selected. To remove the blurring effect, select the three-dot icon for the slide in the Presentation Builder panel and click Remove selected shapes.
