By connecting your Lucid account to Cursor using the Lucid Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, you can query, analyze, and pull context from your Lucidchart diagrams and Lucidspark boards directly inside your Cursor chat. This integration allows your AI assistant to reference process flows, architecture maps, and user journeys to write accurate code and documentation based on your Lucid documents. Set up the connection
The steps to connect Cursor with Lucid depends on your Cursor account type:
- Enterprise Cursor users: A Cursor admin needs to authorize the connection for the entire Cursor organization. Once the connection has been authorized, users on the Cursor Enterprise team can set up the connection for their own account by following the steps in the Connect Cursor to your Lucid account section.
- Hobby, Individual, or Teams Cursor users: Set up the connection by following the steps in the Connect Cursor to your Lucid account section.
Regardless of your Cursor account type, if you are on a Team or Enterprise Lucid account, your Lucid admin must first enable the MCP server.
For Cursor admins: Enable the Lucid plugin
For team and enterprise accounts, the Lucid plugin can be enabled for team members to access by following the steps below:
- Open the Cursor Admin dashboard.
- Select Settings from the navigation menu on the left side.
- Scroll down to the "Public Marketplace Allowlist" or "Marketplace Permissions" section.
- Click Add Plugin or + Add to Allowlist.
- Search "Lucid" in the textbox.
- Click Add or Save Changes.
After you’ve enabled Lucid for Cursor, users on your account can follow the steps in the Connect Cursor to your Lucid account section below to complete the setup.
For Lucid admins: Enable the Lucid MCP server
If you are on a Team or Enterprise Lucid account, your Lucid admin must first enable the MCP server. If you are on a Free or Individual Lucid account, skip to the Connect Cursor to your Lucid account section below.
- Select Admin from the navigation menu on the left side of the Lucid Home Page.
- Click Security from the navigation menu on the left side of the page.
- Select AI controls from the options that appear below "Security".
- Under “MCP access”, use the toggle next to "Allow users to connect”.
- Click Enable MCP or Disable MCP in the modal that appears.
- Click Save changes in the top-right corner.
Once the Lucid MCP Server has been enabled, any Lucid user on your account can follow the steps in the next section to connect Lucid to Cursor.
Connect Cursor to your Lucid account
Follow these steps to connect Cursor to your Lucid account:
- Open the Cursor desktop app.
- Click the Extensions icon from the panel on the left of the page.
- The icon looks like four stacked boxes.
- Type “Lucid” in the search bar.
- Select Lucid from the results.
- Click Install.
The Lucid MCP Server is now ready to use in Cursor.

FAQ
What information can the Cursor integration access?
Lucid’s Cursor app uses the Lucid MCP server to surface Lucid documents that you have permissions to access. It can access document titles, content, comments, and metadata to provide the LLM with the context it needs to fulfill your request.
Can I edit the diagrams that Cursor creates?
Yes. When you ask Cursor to create a diagram, it generates a preview along with the option to open the document in Lucid. Edits can be made manually from inside the document or by prompting the MCP server from Cursor.
