The Lucid Model Context Protocol (MCP) server enables admins to securely connect their organization’s Lucid account to AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot. Account admins can easily enable or disable MCP access for their team, enforce domain controls, and manage network security. Read this article to learn how to authorize the Lucid MCP server and manage its security settings for your organization.

Lucid MCP server security settings
The Lucid MCP server can access any Lucid document you have permissions to access within your account, including titles, content, comments, and metadata. It cannot access documents owned or created by users outside your account.

Enable the Lucid MCP server for your organization
Authorizing the Lucid MCP server for users on your account requires two steps:
- A Lucid account admin enables MCP access in the Lucid admin panel.
- Your organization's AI tool admin configures the connection to Lucid by authorizing the Lucid connector in that tool's marketplace, or by manually setting up the server URL.

Enable or disable use of the Lucid MCP server for your account
Account owners, account admins, and Enterprise Shield admins on Team and Enterprise accounts can control whether to give users on their account access to the Lucid MCP server.
To enable or disable MCP access for your account, follow these steps:
- From the Lucid Home Page, select Admin from the menu to the left.
- Select Security from the left-hand navigation menu.
- Select AI controls from the dropdown options.
- Under “MCP access”, use the toggle next to "Allow users to connect”.
- Click Enable MCP or Disable MCP in the modal that appears.
- Click Save changes in the top-right corner.
Configure the Lucid MCP server in your AI tool
Once the Lucid MCP server is enabled for your account, you need to configure it for your organization from the AI tool’s side. These steps vary by tool, so search each AI platform’s help center for steps on either of the following options:
- Authorize the Lucid connector or plugin in your AI platform’s marketplace.

- Manually set up the server URL (https://mcp.lucid.app/mcp) if no Lucid connector or plugin exists.
Lucid’s MCP server offerings
Lucid offers different MCP server configurations depending on your security needs and how much access you want to give AI tools to your data:
- Lucid MCP server: Connect to search, edit, summarize, and create Lucid documents.
- Lucid repositories MCP server: Connect to reference only content in Process Accelerator repositories.
- Lucid read-only MCP server: Connect to provide AI tools with search and view-only permissions for your Lucid data.

How does the Lucid MCP server work?
The Lucid MCP server is a remote service available at https://mcp.lucid.app/mcp. It uses the streamable HTTP transport protocol, Client ID Metadata Document (CIMD), and Dynamic Client Registration (DCR) to securely manage client access. Authentication is handled via OAuth 2.0, allowing Lucid users to authorize the MCP server to integrate with their AI tools. During setup, users complete two distinct authorization steps:
- Server authentication: Verifies and registers the Lucid MCP server as a trusted service.
- Permission scope approval: Grants the MCP server access to user documents, data, and account operations within Lucid products.
Both authentication and scope approval are required before the Lucid MCP server can interact with a user’s account or data.
Can the Lucid MCP server fetch information from Process Accelerator repositories?
The Lucid MCP server can access information in Process Accelerator repositories, but it is not limited to repository documents. However, the Lucid repositories MCP server limits the search tools to only search repositories and fetch repository documents.
