Lucid AI’s Process Capture allows you to automatically generate diagrams by recording your screen as you walk through a workflow. You can review your recording and redact sensitive information before the Process Agent generates a diagram you can refine on your canvas, in addition to a written standard operating procedure and associated screenshots. - Enterprise users have a cap of 25 minutes per month.
- Usage is tracked per user—it is not pooled at the account level.
- Minutes reset on the 1st of each month and do not roll over.
- Minutes aren't counted against your limit unless you use the recording to generate a diagram.
Finish capture
When you have completed the process you want to record, click Finish capture from the floating Process Capture recording controls.
From here you’ll have three options to select from in the Lucid AI panel:
Generate diagram
After capturing a process, select Generate diagram to prompt Lucid AI to create a diagram based on the recording. The Process Agent uses the provided capture to create a diagram on the canvas, along with images and a written standard operating procedure.
Redact sensitive information
After capturing a process, select Redact sensitive information to review and remove any confidential or sensitive information before it is processed by Lucid AI.
From here, you can click the trash can icon on a screenshot to permanently delete it, or follow these steps to redact content:
- Select a screenshot.
- Draw a box over any information you don’t want to include in the captured process.
- Lucid AI will not be able to see any covered information.
- Click the arrow to the right of the screenshot to redact the next screenshot or click Back to all screenshots from the bottom-right corner to select a specific screenshot to redact.
- Click Delete screenshot on the right side of the panel to remove any screenshots you don’t want processed by Lucid AI.
When you’re done redacting information, select Generate diagram in the bottom-right corner of the panel.
The generated diagram will appear on the canvas. The Process Capture recording is stored in the context frame to the left of the diagram, allowing for future iterations.

FAQ
What data does Process Capture collect?
Process Capture collects interval screenshots of your screen, and optionally audio from the user’s microphone. You can share your whole screen, a window, or a tab. Both the audio and screenshots are only captured while actively recording.
How does Lucid handle the data we collect?
Lucid is dedicated to upholding its commitments to you regarding the privacy, security, and safety of your data, including with any AI features. Your use of these features is subject to either Lucid's Terms of Service or your MSA with Lucid (as applicable), and Lucid's Supplemental AI Terms.
Lucid's AI models are powered by third-party AI service providers Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and AWS Bedrock. Please visit our Sub-Processor List to learn more about their approach to data, privacy and security. All data, at rest and in transit, is encrypted using AES-256 and TLS 1.2 encryption standards, safeguarding the documents against unauthorized access and potential security threats.
Data captured during a screen recording is processed through our AI service providers, and stored in the canvas’ context panel to support future edits to the process map. This means the audio narration and all screenshots will be stored in the context panel on the canvas as a zipped file. Anyone with view access (or more) to the document can view, download, and delete the file from the context panel.
To read more about AI security in the Lucid platform, check out our whitepaper in the Lucid Trust Center.
Is captured data used to train OpenAI or AWS Bedrock models?
No. Lucid does not permit third-party AI service providers to use customer data to improve or train artificial intelligence models.
What privacy and security settings are available?
Before completing a capture, you can preview your recording and manually delete images or redact any confidential or otherwise sensitive information, before they're shared with Lucid.
Can I opt out of Process Capture functionality?

You can also turn off Process Capture without disabling other Lucid AI functionality if your account has purchased the Enterprise Shield add-on. For more information, check out the For admins: Disable Process Capture section above.
Is Process Capture covered under Lucid's existing compliance certifications?
