Lucid AI’s Process Agent is a powerful, interactive tool designed to help you build process diagrams by generating an initial draft based on a description. The agent then refines the diagram through intelligent, clarifying questions. This process helps you define triggers, owners, and specific steps to ensure your process maps are both accurate and comprehensive. Read this article to learn more.

Lucid’s AI capabilities are currently available to all users but may be subject to a paid subscription model in the future.

Plan availability: Free, Individual, Team, and Enterprise.

Access the Process Agent

To access Lucid AI’s Process Agent, follow these steps:

  1. Open a Lucid document.
  2. Select lucid-ai-icon.png the Lucid AI icon from the top of the Primary Toolbar on the left side of the page.
  3. Select Document a process from the options below the text box.

The process-agent-icon.png Process Agent icon will appear, indicating that it is enabled. Click the X next to the icon to disable it.

You can now chat with the Process Agent. Start by providing a detailed description of the process diagram you want to build and include any relevant files. After the initial description, the Process Agent may ask follow-up questions to refine the diagram.

Note: Creating multiple diagrams with the Process Agent within the same Lucid document (including on separate pages) is not supported.

Process Agent example
The image below shows the Process Agent helping to create a process diagram for a company’s hiring process. After the initial description, it asked follow-up questions such as:

  • Which stages should the hiring process include?
  • What usually starts the hiring process?
  • Who are the main people or teams involved?

Tip: If you need the Process Agent to ask additional questions, type “Continue together”. The agent will ask more clarifying questions to help guide you through further refining of the diagram.

Process context frame

Before the Process Agent produces the first draft, it creates a process context frame where it includes any relevant files and a record of important information you’ve provided.

After answering the questions in the example above, the user uploaded files in the chat window for the Process Agent to reference. Using the provided files and the context gained by answering the questions, the Process Agent generated the context frame shown below.

As you give more context to the Process Agent, it adds it as documentation to the frame and updates the process flow accordingly.

Process output

After the process context frame is generated, the Process Agent creates the process flow which includes a:

  • Title
  • Owner
  • Last updated date
  • Scope description
  • Diagram key
  • Diagram outline

Review and suggest improvements

After the Process Agent has generated an initial diagram, it can review the diagram and suggest improvements. To start this process, click Suggest improvements from the Lucid AI chat panel after the initial diagram has been created.

The Process Agent will review the diagram and provide suggestions. You can:

  • Select from the options provided by the Process Agent.
  • Click the arrow to the right of an individual suggestion to navigate to the specific location in the diagram.

If you click the arrow to the right of a suggestion to navigate to its location on the diagram, select one of the following options to proceed:

  • Accept to prompt the Process Agent to make the suggested change.
    • If the Process Agent determines that it needs more context before it can make the change, this option will not be available.
  • Ignore the suggestion.
  • Discuss in chat to provide more context to the Process Agent before accepting the suggested change.

Keep your process up to date

As changes happen within your organization, you can give new information to the Process Agent at any time. To do so, access the Process Agent, then type any updates you want to provide. The Process Agent will revise the process to incorporate the new context.

Note: You can provide updates to the Process Agent even if you’ve deleted your previous chat. The agent uses the existing context frame and flow to make the necessary changes.
