Add custom status tags and attributes to a Lucid document

Follow the steps below to learn how to label a document or board with a custom tag or attribute.

Hover over a document or board in the Documents page.
Select the Settings icon on the bottom right.
Click Manage Attributes to open the Document Attributes modal.
In the Custom Tags text box, type the tag(s) you want to associate with the document or board.
Press Enter on your keyboard in between entries.
- For Enterprise users only: Fill out the additional fields in the modal that were defined by your account admin. This could involve manually inputting text or a link, or selecting an option from a dropdown.
Click Save.

The custom tags and attributes will now be associated with the document.

Tip: Type custom tag names in the Lucid Home Page search bar to quickly find tagged documents. Using unique tag names will help you get specific results.

For Enterprise admins: Add an attribute field

To add a new attribute at the account level for documents or team folders:

Log in to your account.
Select Admin from the menu to the left of the Lucid Home Page.
Click Compliance from the admin panel menu.
Select Attributes.
- Select the "Team Folder" tab to add a new attribute for a team folder.
Click + Add attribute in the upper-right corner.
Give the attribute a name and set the input type.
Click Save.

You can find and access the newly added attribute on the Attributes page of the admin panel.

Input type: Dropdown single select or multi select

To configure an attribute with a dropdown (single select or multi select) input type, follow these steps:

Select Dropdown (Single Select) or Dropdown (Multi Select) from the input type dropdown.
Click Add another value and fill out the corresponding text box.
Repeat step 2 for the rest of the values you want to add.
Reorder values by dragging to the left of the text boxes. Delete a value or make a value default by hovering over its text box, clicking , then selecting the corresponding option.
Click Save.

Input type: Hierarchy

If you want users to select values from a hierarchy of dropdowns, with each selection being dependent on the previous one (eg. Country > State > City), you can use the hierarchical dropdown input type.

To create an attribute with a hierarchical dropdown input type, follow these steps:

Create a CSV of hierarchical values according to these guidelines:

Each column represents an attribute.
The first cell of each column contains the attribute name.
All other cells in the column contain attribute values.
The leftmost column is the parent attribute that the column to the right of it is dependent on. That column is parent to the column on its right, and so on.

In the "Attributes" page of the Lucid admin panel, select + Add attribute in the upper-right corner.
Select Dropdown (Hierarchy) from the input type dropdown.
Click Import and select your CSV of hierarchical values.
Click Save.

Input type: Numerical range

If you want account members to associate a number with their document that is within a predefined range—such as a level between 1 and 10—use the numerical range input type. When applying the attribute, users will be able to change the value in increments of 1 by toggling the spinner arrows or entering a number manually.

To configure an attribute with a numerical range input type, follow these steps:

In the "Attributes" page of the Lucid admin panel, select + Add attribute in the upper-right corner.
Select Numerical Range from the input type dropdown.
Input numerical values to the “Minimum Value” and “Maximum Value” text boxes.
Click Save.

FAQ

Can users who are not on my account view the custom tags and attributes associated with a document or board that is shared with them?
No. For data privacy reasons, Lucid does not share custom tags or attributes across accounts.

Can I add a custom attribute to a document that has been shared with me from another account?
Yes. You can still attach a custom attribute to shared documents, even if the user sharing it belongs to another account. For privacy reasons, users who are not on your account can't see custom attributes added to the document, even if they own the document.
