Lucid fields allow for enhanced visualization of your imported data in Lucidspark and Lucidchart. These allow you to better align the information between the column organization in your dataset and how Lucid represents your data when you create shapes.

Assign Lucid fields
With Lucid fields, you can match columns from your imported dataset with specific fields in Lucid. This simplifies the process of displaying your data visually on a diagram.
In Lucidchart
Lucid fields are available for Excel imports in Lucidchart. To access this, follow these steps:
- Open a Lucidchart document.
- Click
the Data Panel icon in the bar to the left of the workspace.
- Open
the Manage Data menu at the top-right of the Data panel.
- Select Assign Lucid fields.
- From the pop-up, select the dropdown fields from your dataset to assign them to relevant Lucid fields. For example, you can assign a name column as the “Title” or number column as the “Priority”.
- This is also where you can adjust any Lucid fields that you previously set.

- Click Save.
Tip: Use the scroll bar on the far-right side of the Lucid fields menu pictured above to access more fields that you can customize.
In Lucidspark
Lucid fields functionality is available for the following Lucidspark integrations:
- Integrate Lucid Cards with Excel or Google Sheets to assign Lucid fields as part of importing your Excel or Google Sheet dataset as Lucid Cards into Lucidspark.
- Sync date fields for Timelines so Lucid Cards sync the date fields between your original dataset and Lucidspark.
Tip: To adjust Lucid fields you set upon import into Lucidspark, use universal canvas to temporarily change your board to a Lucidchart document. From there, you can access and adjust for Lucid fields by following the steps in the previous section. After making changes to your Lucid fields, you can convert your document back to a Lucidspark board.
FAQ
Why isn’t my field showing up as a selectable option?
If you don’t see a field you expect from your dataset as a selectable option, ensure it is part of the header row in your spreadsheet.
Why isn’t my assigned field showing up on a Lucid Card?
Only certain information is displayed on Lucid Cards. This includes fields like title, estimate, and priority. The number of fields available during import in Lucidspark is more limited than when importing in Lucidchart.
