Add notes in Lucidspark boards and Lucidchart diagrams to help collaborators gain more information while keeping the canvas organized. You can add notes to individual shapes in Lucidchart and Lucidspark—this allows you to provide context to specific areas of your canvas. In Lucidspark, you also have a Notes panel you can use to include information that is relevant to the entire board or take notes during a meeting.

Add notes to a shape in Lucidchart or Lucidspark
Add a note to an individual shape to provide additional information to specific areas of the canvas.
Add a note to an object
- Right-click an object.
- Select Add Note from the dropdown menu.
- Type a note into the box that appears.

Click the canvas outside of the note to finish editing.
Delete a note from an object
- Right-click the object with the note you want to delete.
- Select Delete Note from the dropdown menu.

Add notes to a Lucidspark board
Use the Notes panel in Lucidspark to provide helpful resources, set objectives, and outline the agenda for the entire board. As you work, take notes, record action items, and define goals and next steps for your team.
Access the Notes panel
To open the Notes panel, which is only available in Lucidspark, follow these steps:
- Click
the More tools icon from the Primary Toolbar on the left-side of the canvas.
- Select
the Notes icon from the menu that appears.
- You can expand or shrink the panel by clicking and dragging the left edge of the panel.
Format and style notes in the Notes panel
The format and style options for text in the Lucidspark Notes panel are:
- Text styles: Change the type of text to optimize organization of your notes. Options include title, body, and a variety of headers.

Text color: Select from the color palette or click
the plus icon to customize a color.
- You can set a default color by choosing a color before typing, or you can style specific parts of your text by highlighting words and choosing a color.
- Text formatting: Style text with bold, italics, underline, or strikethrough.

List options: Organize notes with bullets, numbers, or clickable check boxes.
- If you use clickable checkboxes, clicking the checkbox will strikethrough the text on that line.
- Add link: Add a hyperlink to highlighted text. When selected, the URL will open in a new tab.
FAQ
Who can see my notes?
Anyone you share the board with can see your notes. This includes users with view-only and comment-only access to the Lucid document.
Who can edit my notes?
Collaborators can see and make changes to the text that you add to notes in real time.
Do notes persist across different working sessions?
Yes. Notes are permanent unless you delete them.
Will my notes appear when I export my board?
No. Notes don’t appear in any exported version of your Lucid document.
