For admins: Enable the Slack integration for Lucidchart and Lucidspark

Install the Slack integration for Lucidchart and Lucidspark

1. Log into your Lucid account.
2. Select Admin on the far-left.
3. Select App integration in the left-hand menu.
4. From the dropdown, select Lucidchart or Lucidspark depending on which product you want to set up the integration for.
   • If you want to set up this integration for both products, you will need to go through the full steps for both Lucidchart and Lucidspark.
5. Select the Slack tile.
6. Click Add to Slack. 
7. You’ll automatically be taken to Slack’s website so that you can activate the integration for Slack. Click Add to Slack.
8. Log into your Lucid account. 
9. Grant Slack access to your Lucid account. 
10. Grant Lucid the standard permissions requested including access to Slack's list of names, channels, and the ability to send a message upon autocomplete.
11. Accept the installation.

Permissions granted to Lucid

When you install the Slack integration for Lucid, you grant certain permissions that Lucid can access in your workspaces. For specifics, refer to our Integrate Slack with Lucid article.

Enable Slack OAuth log-in (Slack SSO)

Slack single sign-on allows users on your team to log in to Lucid by clicking through a document invitation in Slack. It also allows users to login with their Slack credentials from the Lucid login page. To enable Slack SSO for users on your team, follow these steps:

1. Select Admin in your Lucid account.
2. Click Security in the left-hand menu.
3. Select Authentication from the dropdown in the left-hand menu.
4. Check the box next to “Allow sign in with Slack."
   • You can select or unselect any of the other methods.
5. Click Save changes.
6. If you would like to make Slack the default log-in method for users on your team, select it from the "Default authentication" dropdown.

Enable Slack org-wide app

If you are on an Enterprise account with anywhere from two to hundreds of Slack workspaces, you can deploy Lucid Slack apps across all Slack instances at the same time. To give all your employees access to Lucid apps, follow these steps:

1. Make sure Slack is installed in a workspace on the enterprise, as shown in the example image below.
   
2. Click the three-dot icon to the right of a workspace. 
3. Select the option to install for the organization.
4. Select which workspaces you would like to enable.
   
   • You can check the box for “Default for future workspaces” on the far-right to enable the automatic deployment of any future workspaces. 

FAQ

Can the Lucid app still be used in Slack without using the org-wide app installation?
Yes. Lucid accounts will now be able to connect to any number of workspaces – even without using the org-wide app functionality.

Do users in multiple Slack instances need to authenticate Lucid for each workspace?
Users only have to authenticate with the Lucidchart or Lucidspark app once for all workspaces that have access to the app, as long as they are all on the same Slack enterprise.
