Enable nudging in Lucid to prevent object overlap when you expand containers or move content. This feature automatically pushes nearby objects out of the way, making room for new content and keeping your workspace organized. Read this article to learn how to enable or disable these settings for your documents or boards.

Enable or disable auto-nudging
When auto-nudging is enabled, nearby shapes are automatically moved when Containers, Dynamic Tables, quick stickies, and other objects are expanded or resized.
Auto-nudging is enabled on all Lucid accounts by default. To disable auto-nudging, follow these steps from the Lucid Home Page:
- Click your Profile image or initials in the top-right corner of your Lucid account.
- Select Account Settings from the dropdown menu.
- Click Document Settings from the menu on the left.
- Under "Layout", click the toggle next to "Auto-nudging".
This disables auto-nudging for all of your Lucid documents.
Enable or disable nudging when moving objects manually
To enable nudging when you are moving content manually, follow these steps:
- From a Lucid document, click
the More Menu from the top-left of the canvas.
- Locate the document or board settings:
- In Lucidchart, hover your cursor over “File”, then hover your cursor over “Settings”.
- In Lucidspark, hover your cursor over “Board settings”.
- Click Document settings or Open board settings.
- In the panel that appears, click Frame and containers from the menu on the left.
- Click the toggle to the right of “Nudging” to enable it.
This enables nudging for this Lucid document only.
Follow the same steps to disable nudging.
