Collapse and expand content in Lucid

You can toggle the visibility of content by expanding or collapsing Frames and Containers. When collapsed, the layout shrinks into a compact shape to save space on your board. You can expand these elements at any time to view or edit the full content, making it easier to navigate large-scale projects without losing details.

Collapse and expand content

To collapse content, follow these steps:

  1. Select the border of a Frame or Container on the canvas.
  2. Locate the Collapse icon:
    • In Lucidchart, clickcollapse-icon.pngthe Collapse icon from the “Shape Options” section of the Contextual Panel that opens on the right side of the canvas.
    • In Lucidspark, selectcollapse-icon.pngthe Collapse icon from the context menu that appears.

To expand collapsed content, repeat the steps above, selectingexpand-icon.pngthe Expand icon instead.

Supported containers

Content can be collapsed and expanded when contained in the following containers:

Lucidchart

  • Rectangle containers
  • Rounded rectangle containers
  • Circle containers
  • Pill containers
