If you are encountering an issue with saving in Lucid, following the steps included in this article often resolves the issue. Read on for troubleshooting tips you can try on your own before contacting the support team.

Identify the issue

Saving

The troubleshooting steps in this article are intended for users who are actively having trouble saving their document. There are a few ways you can determine if you are having a saving issue:

An error message appeared in the bottom-left corner of the document stating one of the following:
- “We're having trouble saving your recent changes. Please check your internet connection and visit our troubleshooting article if this error persists.”
- “There was an error saving your changes. We will continue attempting to save.”
The save status at the top of your document continuously shows “Saving” instead of “Saved”.
- In Lucidspark, this is indicated by a turning arrow:

If you have determined that you are actively having a saving issue, skip to the Troubleshooting steps section of this article.

Lost work

If you have not received an error message about saving or your document shows a “Saved” status at the top of your document, you are not actively having a saving issue. If you can’t find your document or edits you previously made on your document have disappeared, check out our Troubleshooting: Lost documents or work article for steps to resolve the issue.

Storage

Once you have filled your allowed storage in your Lucid account, your documents no longer save new content. This is indicated by one of two error messages:

“You have filled your allowed space. You must upgrade your account to save additional changes.”
- This means you have met the storage limits for your account type, and changes will not be saved until you get more space by upgrading your account or deleting documents to make more room.
“This document's creator has filled their allowed space. They must upgrade their account to save additional changes.”
- This means the owner of the document has met the storage limits for their account type. To continue editing, you can ask the document’s owner to upgrade their account or you can make a duplicate of the document.

Troubleshooting steps

Try basic troubleshooting first

Most problems with saving are related to browser or network issues. Check out our Basic troubleshooting article for more information. In most cases, the steps outlined in this article will resolve the problem you are having.

Note: To ensure that you do not lose any unsaved work, do not refresh your browser, close your Lucid document, or restart your computer while trying to fix a saving issue.

Copy content to a new document

If your document continues not to save, try copying the content to a new document. To do this:

In the document with the saving issue, select and copy all your content.
In a separate browser tab, create a new Lucid document.
- Do not close the document with the saving issue yet.
Paste the content into the new document.
Wait for a successful “Saved” notification at the top of the editor.

If the new document saves successfully, you can delete the old one and continue your work in the new document.
