Create a Voting session
Users on Team and Enterprise accounts can create a Voting session for the collaborators in their boards.
To access the voting tool, select the Voting icon from the Collaboration Tools in the top-right corner of the workspace.
After opening the Voting session, add details and instructions for your Voting session. When setting the specifics for your Voting session, you can:
- Add a title to identify the topic.
- Toggle on Private Voting to enable anonymous voting.
- Select the Vote on Current Selection toggle to vote on selected items.
- Add Votes per Person to set the number of votes for each collaborator (maximum 99).
- Set a Timer which appears as a countdown for all collaborators once you start the Voting session.
- Type Instructions to add specific context or details for the vote.
Advanced options
Click Advanced for more specific voting tools.
- Multiple Votes per Object: This option allows collaborators to cast more than one vote for an object when there are multiple votes per person. To allow only one vote per object, toggle this option off.
- Timer Ends Voting: This option will cause the Voting session to conclude as soon as the timer runs out. To allow the Voting session to continue after the formal time runs out, toggle this option off. Note that this option is unavailable unless you have entered an amount of time into the timer field above.
- Voting Objects: Use these checkboxes to determine which objects on the canvas collaborators can vote on. For example, if you have collected your votable ideas on sticky notes and have used supplementary text and images to add context, you would deselect Text and Images while keeping Sticky Notes selected.
Once you’re ready to begin your Voting session, click Start Voting at the bottom of the Voting panel.
Facilitate or participate in a Voting session
Facilitate
As the facilitator of the Voting session, you can use the Facilitate tab of the Voting panel to:
- Monitor progress and watch collaborators cast their votes
- Add more time to the timer or pause it
- End the Voting session
To vote as the facilitator, select the Vote tab of the Voting panel and follow the instructions below for a Participant of the Voting session.
To end the Voting session, click End Voting at the bottom of the Voting panel. If you set up the vote so that voting would end with the timer, you can also let the timer expire to officially end the vote.
Participate
As a participant of a Voting session, you can:
- Read any instructions from the facilitator
- Cast your allotted votes and view remaining votes available
- Manage existing votes
- View the remaining time left for the vote
- View the facilitator of the vote
To cast a vote, simply hover over the object you wish to vote for, then use the -/+ toggles to add or subtract your votes. If your Voting session facilitator has only made certain types of objects votable, you will see this toggle appear when hovering over only those objects.
Once you’ve voted for an object, a blue dot for each vote cast will appear in the upper-right corner of the object.
Additionally, the object and your number of votes for it will appear in the Voting panel, where you can also add and subtract votes for it.
Once you’re satisfied with your votes, select Submit Votes at the bottom of the Voting panel. Note that you will not be able to see other collaborators’ votes until the facilitator has ended the Voting session.
View the results of a Voting session
Once the Voting session has ended, the facilitator and all participants of the vote will be able to see the results. A small icon will appear next to each object indicating which participants voted for that option. Note that if you enabled Private Voting, voters will remain anonymous.
To keep votes visible on the canvas after the Voting session has been completed, select the “Votes visible outside of results” toggle.
The results of any Voting session held within a specific board will be accessible within the main screen of the Voting panel if you need to view the results again at a later date. You can also keep past votes visible on the canvas by selecting the eye icon.
