Read this article for the instructions to update your data sources and sync the updated data to your Lucidscale document.
Update data source
Manual data source updates
To manually update a data source, follow these steps:
- Log into your Lucid account.
-
Select
the Data Hub icon from the left-hand navigation menu.
- From the dropdown, click your cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Click the three-dot menu to the far-right of a data source in the data hub.
-
Choose from the following based on your cloud provider:
- For AWS, select Update Account from AWS.
- For Azure, select Update Subscription from Azure.
- For Google Cloud (formerly GCP), select Update Project from Google Cloud.
There will be a message with a circle loading icon in the bottom-right corner indicating that Lucid is importing the updated data. The circle loading icon will disappear from the message in the bottom-right corner when the data source has been successfully updated. You can also see in the row for each data source when it has been last updated, or if the update is currently “in progress”.
If the data source couldn’t import all resources or metadata during the update, you will see a warning icon next to the data source name. Click the icon and select View Import Summary to see a status for each resource. For any resources that failed, you will see a reason and instructions for how to make it successfully update.
If a data source is unresponsive or not behaving as expected, you can initiate a fresh import of the same data source without deleting the existing one. The new import will create an independent data source that can be used to create new documents while the older data source remains intact.
Schedule automatic data source updates
Scheduled automatic data source updates are enabled by default. To adjust the scheduled recurring updates to a data source, follow these steps:
- Log into your Lucid account.
-
Select
the Data Hub icon from the left-hand navigation menu.
- From the dropdown, click your cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Click the three-dot menu to the far-right of a data source in the data hub.
- Select Schedule update.
-
In the pop-up, choose a start date and the frequency you’d like the updates to repeat.
- Click Save.
Sync updated data
Manually sync data on a document
To sync a document with updated data:
- Open your Lucidscale document.
-
Click
the document data menu icon in the upper-left of the page.
- Select Sync document.
The document data will be updated to match that of your most recent imports.
Tip: Each sync creates a new saved state for your document. Using Cloud Version Compare, you can use this saved state to see exactly what changed since the last sync.
Set up automatic document syncs
From a specific document
To enable automatic syncs when your data sources are updated from within a specific Lucidscale document, follow these steps:
- Open your Lucidscale document.
- Click
the document data menu icon in the upper-left of the page.
- Toggle on “Always sync document with latest updates.”
Once you have set this up, any time your data sources are manually or automatically updated, the document will sync to represent the most up-to-date resources.
Tip: Each sync creates a new saved state for your document. Using Cloud Version Compare, you can use this saved state to see exactly what changed since the last sync.
From the import flow
While importing cloud data, you have the option to toggle on "Schedule update for all selected accounts". Toggling this on will ensure that data is updated on a weekly basis, a schedule that you can adjust from the data hub using the steps from the Schedule automatic data source updates section above.
