Use Lucidspark to create and share ideas with one another in real-time. With the integration for Google Drive, you can open, store, and share these boards in Google Drive. The Lucidspark app also works with Google Team Drive, allowing you to move files from your personal Drive to your Team Drive.

Connect Lucidspark with Google Drive

To connect your Lucidspark account to your Google Drive, follow these steps:

In Lucid, click your profile image or initials in the upper-right corner.
Select Account Settings.
Choose Apps & Integrations from the left navigation bar, then choose the Lucidspark tab.
Click Link to Drive.
Select the Google account you want to use and click through the dialog to grant Lucidspark permissions to your Google account.

Your account is now linked to Google Drive and you can sync your Lucidspark boards to your Drive account.

Connect Google Drive to a Lucid account with a different email address

In order to connect your Lucid account with Drive, both accounts need to be connected to the same email address. If you are currently using two different email addresses for each, please follow these steps to properly connect:

Change your Lucid email address in your Account Settings. Click Save.
Log out of all Google accounts, then log into the Google account that is using the email address associated with your Lucid account.
Navigate back to your Lucid account settings and connect to your Google Drive account by following the steps above.

Can’t change email or accidentally created new Lucid account

If Lucid prevents you from changing your email to match the email address associated with your Google Drive account, it is likely you accidentally created a new Lucid account through Google Drive. Follow these instructions to remove your accidental Lucid account and sync the correct account with Google Drive.

Log in to your new accidental Lucid account. You can use Google Single Sign-On if the accidental account uses the same email address as Drive.
Navigate to your Account Settings by clicking on your profile image or icon in the top-right corner. Select Account Settings.
From the "Apps & Integrations" tab, select Lucidspark.
Click Unlink Account.
Close your account by visiting the Close Account tab of your Account Settings. Click Close and select a reason (syncing with Google Drive).
Log in to your active Lucid account and change your email address in your Account Settings to match your Google Drive email address exactly.
Click Save.
Log out of your Lucid account and any Google accounts.
Clear your cookies.
Log in to your Lucid account using the newly entered email address with the same password as before.
Go to your Account Settings, select the Apps & Integrations tab, and click Link to Google Drive. You’ll need to log in to your Google Drive account using the same email address as your active Lucid account.

Create a new board from Google Drive

You can navigate to Lucidspark to create a new board without leaving Google Drive. To do so, follow these steps:

From Drive, select New.
Click More and select Lucidspark.
From the Lucidspark Template Gallery that appears, choose a template or blank canvas to start with.
Rename the board and start working on the canvas.

Your file is saved to Lucidspark and synced with your Drive account.

Note: Your board will be accessible through both Lucidchart and Drive only if you have automatic synchronization enabled.

Automatic synchronization

You can choose to have the work you create in Lucidspark automatically synced to Google Drive by navigating to the Integrations tab of your Account Settings, choosing the Lucidspark tab, and check the box to automatically sync boards to Drive. If there are any unsynced boards, you can force them to sync by clicking “Sync Now.”
You can access all of your Lucidspark boards via Google Drive without going to Lucidspark. However, you will not be able to edit Lucidspark boards unless you open them in Lucidspark.
All synced files will initially appear in a folder called “Lucidspark” in your Google Drive account. Once they have appeared you are free to move them to other folders in your Drive. Please do not delete the original Lucidspark folder unless you no longer wish to use the integration

Permissions

Lucidspark’s integration with Google Drive requires a few permissions to give you a seamless experience:

View basic information about your account: Allows Lucidspark to auto-provision an account and bring you immediately into the editor rather than to a registration or sign-in page.
View your email address: Enables Google Single Sign-On.
View and manage Google Drive files that you have opened or created with Lucidspark: Ensures that your most recent Lucidspark file is synced to your Drive account.
Perform these operations when I’m not using the application: Required for automated backup of files on a weekly basis as selected in your Lucidspark Google Drive preferences.

Collaborate via Google Drive

If you have automatic sync enabled, you can easily collaborate on Lucidspark boards by sharing them via Google Drive.

To share a board using Google Drive:

Right-click any file from the “Lucidspark” folder in your Google Drive.
Select Share and enter your collaborator’s information.

Your collaborator can access the Lucidspark board by right-clicking the file and selecting Open With and Lucidspark.

Please note the following:

If you share a document via Google Drive, these sharing permissions will not be noted in the document’s collaboration settings in Lucidspark. To remove a collaborator’s permissions, un-share the document with them on Google Drive.
Permissions are inherited from Lucidspark or Google Drive based on which one has greater permissions. For example, if a board is shared with Edit access in Lucidspark to a user who only has view access in Google Drive, the user will still receive edit access.

Use Lucidspark with Google Team Drive

Lucidspark's integration with Google Team Drive allows you to move Lucidspark files from your personal Drive to your Team Drive. Permissions will be inherited from Lucidspark or Team Drive based on which one has greater permissions. For example, if a board is shared with Edit access in Lucidspark to a user who only has read access in Team Drive, the user will still receive edit access.
