Install the Lucidchart, Lucidspark, and Lucidscale add-ons for Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides

To install these Lucid add-ons, follow these steps:

1. From an open Google Doc, Sheet or Presentation, select Extensions from the top menu bar. 
2. Hover over “Add-ons”.
3. Click Get add-ons.
4. Search “Lucidchart”, “Lucidspark”, or "Lucidscale" from the Google Workspace Marketplace search bar.
5. Select the Lucidchart, Lucidspark, or Lucidscale listing.
6. Click Install.
7. Select Continue to give Lucid permission to begin installing.
8. Click Allow to give Lucid access to your Google Account.
9. In the confirmation window that appears, click Done.

To access the add-on, refresh your browser, then click the Lucidchart, Lucidspark, orLucidscale icon on the right-hand side of your Doc, Sheet, or Slide. This will open the Lucid add-on sidebar on the right-hand side of the page. From here, if you are not yet logged in, you will see a login screen. Once logged in, you will have options to browse your Lucid documents, create a new Lucidchart document, or update existing Lucid content within your Google Doc, Sheet, or Slide.

Create a new document or board

After you log into Lucid, you can access the Lucidchart, Lucidspark, or Lucidscale editor directly from Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides. To create a new document or board click Create New from the corresponding add-on sidebar. The add-on will direct you to the editor.

Insert an existing Lucid document or board

With the Lucid add-ons, you can insert a document or board as a high-resolution image (PNG) into your Google Doc, Sheet, or Slide without ever leaving the application.

You can also paste a Lucid document URL in Google Doc, Sheet, or Slide to create a smart chip displaying the Lucid product icon and title of your Lucid document. If you click the smart chip, it will use the hyperlink and open your Lucid document in a new tab.

Insert a Lucidchart document

To insert an existing Lucidchart document as an image:

1. Click Browse Documents in the Lucidchart add-on sidebar on the right.
2. Select the thumbnail of the document you want to insert.
   • If you are importing a multi-page Lucidchart document, only the first page will be inserted by default. To import a different page, click the arrows on either side of the document preview to toggle through the pages.
3. Click Select.

Insert a Lucidspark board

To insert an existing Lucidspark board as an image:

1. Click Browse Boards in the Lucidspark add-on sidebar on the right.
2. Select the thumbnail of the board you want to insert.
3. Click Select.

Insert a Lucidscale document

To insert an existing Lucidscale document as an image:

1. Click Browse Models in the Lucidscale add-on sidebar on the right.
2. Select the thumbnail of the document you want to insert.
3. Click Select.

Update an inserted document or board

If you make changes to an inserted Lucid document or board, click Update Images from the corresponding add-on sidebar to see the most current version.

Please allow 5–10 seconds for each image to update.

Remove the Lucidchart, Lucidspark, or Lucidscale add-on

To uninstall any of the Lucid add-ons for Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, follow these steps:

1. From an open Google Doc, Sheet, or Slide, select Extensions from the top menu bar. 
2. Hover over “Add-ons”.
3. Click Get add-ons.
4. Search “Lucidchart”, “Lucidspark”, or "Lucidscale" from the Google Workspace Marketplace search bar.
5. Select the Lucidchart, Lucidspark, or Lucidscale listing.
6. Click Uninstall.
   • This button will be grayed out if the add-on has been centrally deployed by your admin.

FAQ

Why am I getting an error when I attempt to import a document?
Google manages the limitations for the size of a document that can be imported. If you receive an error regarding a size restriction, try manually importing an image of your document instead.

Is it possible to connect any Lucid account to any Google account?
Yes. You can connect a Lucid account with any Google account, and vice versa.

Why is my document blurry?
After adding a document, if you resize it to be larger than intended or if your document contains a lot of details, it may appear blurry. If this is the case, we recommend exporting your document from Lucid as a JPEG or PNG and inserting it to Google as an image.
