Integrate airfocus with Trello

Connect your product management workflows, prioritization frameworks, and roadmaps with your Trello cards by syncing your data seamlessly between airfocus and Trello.

Benefits

  • Import Trello cards (as items) into airfocus.
  • Push airfocus items into Trello (as Trello cards).
  • Flexible filtering by board, lists and labels.
  • Flexible field mapping for most Trello fields types

Initial setup

First, sign up for airfocus or log into your existing account. Create a new workspace in airfocus or select the one you would like to integrate Trello with.

You can add multiple Trello integrations to a given workspace (e.g. for different Trello boards).

To do that, simply go to the Extensions section within your workspace, click on "Add integrations" and Connect with Trello.

During the first setup, you also need to grant airfocus access to your Trello board. Click "Allow" on the popover that appears for the authorization with Trello.

Integration filtering

The first step is to add a name for your integration. This is especially helpful if you connect multiple Trello boards with one of your airfocus workspaces. You can then choose which of your Trello boards you want to sync your airfocus workspace with.

Use filtering to define which Trello cards you import into airfocus. Use the list and label filters if you want to only sync specific cards from the board you selected. Leave the filters empty, if you want to include all cards of the board in your sync.

Field mapping

Use mapping to define how information in Trello should be mapped to information in airfocus. If you change an issue or item in one system, the other system will be adjusted accordingly. You are only able to map fields of the same type with each other.

When you take a look at the field mapping options, you'll see that two fields are always mapped by default: The item names and item descriptions.

You can set the mapping directions for all fields at once (as far as technically possible) with the “Set direction” button.

By default, the mapping direction is set from Trello to airfocus and can be changed by the user to whatever is available for mapping. You can define for each of your fields whether you want to have a one-way synchronization or a two-way synchronization between the field in Trello and airfocus.

After selecting two select fields that you want to map you can select the field options and how they should be mapped:

Notes:

  • Please note that airfocus does not support timestamps. This means that the timestamps on your Trello tasks’ date fields will be set to 00:00:00 if an airfocus item is synced to Trello. If one of the date fields on Trello is not set or a Trello task has a due date set to before the start date, then airfocus will fill in the start date with a date one day before the due date.
  • airfocus fields that are mapped one-way from Trello to airfocus become read-only fields in airfocus, as any changes a user would make to them will be overwritten again with the next sync.

Syncing Trello votes to airfocus

Trello is a great tool to collect feedback from customers, teammates, and other stakeholders. You can now let them vote for your strategic items (using the free Trello Voting Power-Up in combination with the airfocus Power-Up) and map those votes with any number field on your airfocus workspace.

Additional settings

When "Archive unknown cards" is enabled, then previously imported cards will be archived in airfocus if they do not match the configured list and label filters anymore.

When "Automatic sync" is enabled, your integration will automatically sync every 10 minutes and every time you access the workspace.

When you click "View logs", you can view your Trello integration activity logs and see what changes were made before the last sync.
