Item links in airfocus allow you to define relationships between items across your workspaces, such as dependencies, duplicates, and blockers. Use any of the default airfocus item link types or create custom ones to fit your team’s needs.
Default link types
The following item link types are available by default and cannot be modified or deleted:
- Blocks/Blocked by
- Duplicates/Duplicated by
- Relates to
Create a custom link type
If you need more item link types than the default options, airfocus admins can create custom link types by following these steps:
- Click your name from the bottom-left corner of any airfocus page.
- Select Team settings.
- Select Item links from the options at the top of the settings panel.
- Click + Add link type from the bottom of the navigation menu on the left.
- Type an outward and inward description for your custom link:
- Outward description: This is shown on the source item (for example: “implements”).
- Inward description: This is shown on the linked item (for example: “implemented by”).
- Click Done.
Link items together
Anyone with edit access can add links to items by following these steps:
- Open an item’s detail view.
- Click the plus sign icon to the right of “Linked items”.
- Use the search bar to find the item you want to link to.
- Select an item.
- Use the dropdown under the item to select a link type.
- Click Add.
The link will automatically appear on both items. For example, if you selected “Blocked by” as the item link type, the other item will show “Blocks”.
