Many Team accounts use Lucidchart and Lucidspark in tandem to visualize ideas and take their collaborative ideation to the next level. Here is how having a Team account with access to both products works.

Manage licenses for Lucidchart and Lucidspark

Imagine you have a Team plan with 15 licensed users. Five of them have Lucidchart licenses, five of them have Lucidspark licenses, and five of them have licenses to both products as illustrated below.

  • If a user has a Lucidchart license only, they cannot edit or create new Lucidspark boards.
  • If a user has a Lucidspark license only, they cannot edit or create new Lucidchart documents.
  • If you would like users to be able to edit and create new Lucidchart documents and Lucidspark boards, they need to be licensed for both products.
  • To join a Team account, a user has to be granted a license by the account owner or account admin.
  • When an unlicensed user wants to work on an account-owned document or board, they have the option to request a license and access a one-time, seven-day trial or leave the Team account.
    • Users who have used their free trial can submit another license request, but they will not be able to access any documents until they are granted a license. These users will also have the option to leave the Team account.

Learn more: Users on an Enterprise account gain access to the Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite, which includes both Lucidchart and Lucidspark. Refer to Lucid Plans to see the full scope of features that will be available to you at the Enterprise account level and to upgrade.

FAQ

As the owner or admin of a Team account, can I share team documents and boards with unlicensed users for them to access in a limited capacity?
No. Limited-access users is a premium feature only available to Enterprise accounts.

Can a user on my Team account with a Lucidchart license access a Lucidspark board I created?
Yes. A licensed Lucidchart user on your Team account can view Lucidspark boards created by any team user with a Lucidspark license. However, this user will not be able to edit the Lucidspark board, or create new Lucidspark boards. If they need the ability to create Lucidchart documents and Lucidspark boards, you can grant them a license in both products.

Can I share a document or board from my Team account with a licensed user outside of the Team account?
Yes. You can share and collaborate on specific documents with specific users outside of your Team account, but they will not be automatically granted access to all the documents available on your account as a licensed user on your account would.

Can I share a document or board with a Free account user outside of my Team account?
Yes. However, they are limited to the functionality available at the Free account level. To learn more, see our Lucid Plans article.
