Troubleshooting: Open the JavaScript Console

If you are having trouble loading your documents list, opening a Lucidchart document or Lucidspark board, or working in the editor, you can open the Javascript Console in your browser to identify potential errors.

Mac

Google Chrome

  1. Select View from the top menu.
  2. Hover your cursor over "Developer."
  3. Select JavaScript Console.

or

  1. Use the hotkey "Alt+Command+I”.

Firefox

  1. Select Tools from the top menu.
  2. Hover your cursor over "Browser Tools"
  3. Select Browser Console.

or

  1. Use the hotkey "Shift+Command+J."
  2. Select the Errors tab.

Safari

  1. Select Develop from the top menu.
  2. Select Show JavaScript Console.

Windows

Google Chrome

  1. Open the menu tab in the top-right corner.
  2. Hover your cursor over "More Tools" until the cascaded menu opens.
  3. Select Developer tools.

or

  1. Use the hotkey "Ctrl+Shift+I."

Firefox

  1. Open the menu in the top-right corner.
  2. Hover your cursor over "Developer” until the cascaded menu opens.
  3. Select Browser Console.

or

  1. Use the hotkey “Ctrl+Shift+J.”

Optimized browsers for Lucid

Lucidchart and Lucidspark are web apps written in Javascript, which means they rely on the Javascript engine of each browser to function properly. Google Chrome’s Javascript engine is the best for Lucidchart and Lucidspark, so we recommend using Google Chrome for optimal performance. If you cannot use Chrome, the next best option is to work in Firefox and then Safari (if on a Mac).

Internet Explorer is the least ideal browser because there are multiple versions and some are outdated for web apps like Lucidchart and Lucidspark. Internet Explorer 11 is supported, but we strongly recommend making sure that compatibility mode is turned off.
