Lucid Software Inc. (“Lucid Software” or “Lucid”) assesses sales tax in the United States where applicable. Lucid Software collects Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Singapore. Some Canadian provinces also assess Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) and Provincial Sales Tax (PST). Value-added Tax (VAT) is collected in the European Union, Norway, South Africa, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. These taxes are applied based on the billing address of the customer.
This article goes over the applicable tax rates and information relevant to business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) transactions for each country for which Lucid Software currently collects sales tax including GST, HST, PST, QST, and VAT. Included in this article is Lucid’s address and applicable tax identification numbers.
Lucid Software continuously reviews its activities in various jurisdictions around the world. As such, Lucid Software may implement tax changes from time to time to stay compliant with all new and existing tax requirements, including charging and collecting taxes in new jurisdictions.

Tax rates and details differ by country. Review the applicable country section below for the specifics relevant to your account.
Australia
Australia requires non-resident entities selling digital services to consumers located in Australia to collect and remit a GST of 10%. Non-residents sellers are required to apply GST to B2C transactions. If you have an active Australian Business Number (ABN) and are GST registered, you can add your 11-digit ABN to your billing account details and GST will be excluded from your invoices (reverse charge may apply).

Canada
GST
Non-resident entities like Lucid selling digital services to customers located in Canada are required to collect a 5% GST on all B2C transactions. GST is generally not chargeable to Canadian business customers with an active GST registration number for B2B supply.
Lucid charges GST to B2C customers with a billing address located in Canada. If you are GST registered, you can add your registration ID to your billing account details and GST will be excluded from your next invoice (reverse charge may apply).
HST
Some Canadian provinces assess HST which is a sales tax that includes both the 5% federal GST combined with an additional provincial sales tax. HST is only applicable in participating provinces in Canada including:
- New Brunswick – 15%
- Newfoundland and Labrador – 15%
- Nova Scotia – 14%
- Ontario – 13%
- Prince Edward – 15%
Lucid charges HST to B2C customers with a billing address located in the above Canada provinces. If you are GST and HST registered, you can add your registration ID to your billing account details and GST and HST will be excluded from your next invoice (reverse charge may apply).
PST or QST
PST (QST in Quebec) is a provincial sales tax that is separate and in addition to GST and HST. PST is a consumption tax that is not recoverable and applies to both B2C and B2B transactions in the following provinces:
- British Columbia – 7%
- Saskatchewan – 6%
Quebec’s QST applies to B2C customers and is assessed at a rate of 9.975%.
For customers with tax exempt status for PST, submit your exemption certificate to Lucid Software.

European Union
If you are located in the European Union (EU), VAT is assessed on all Lucid Software subscription purchases and renewals. Your VAT rate will depend on your billing country. If Lucid Software has your valid VAT number on file, we won't assess VAT on your invoices.
If you are a VAT registered business within the EU, you may add a valid VAT number to your account to exclude VAT from your purchase (reverse charge may apply).
Note: Lucid Software is registered for VAT in the EU through the Non-Union One-Stop-Shop (OSS) scheme under Ireland and does not have an individual VAT number for each EU Member State.

New Zealand assesses 15% GST on all Lucid Software subscription purchases and renewals. If Lucid Software has your valid GST number on file, we won't assess GST on your invoices (reverse charge may apply).

Norway
Norway assesses VAT on all B2C Lucid Software subscription purchases and renewals. The VAT rate is 25%. If Lucid Software has your valid VAT number on file, we won't assess VAT on your invoices (reverse charge may apply).

South Africa
South Africa assesses a 15% VAT on all B2B and B2C Lucid Software subscription purchases and renewals. Adding a South Africa VAT number won’t remove the VAT from your invoice.

Singapore
Singapore assesses 9% GST on all Lucid Software subscription purchases and
renewals. If Lucid Software has your valid GST number on file, we won’t assess
GST on your invoices (reverse charge may apply).

OVR regime.
Switzerland
Switzerland assesses VAT on all B2B and B2C Lucid Software subscription purchases and renewals. The VAT rate is 8.1%. Adding a Switzerland VAT number won’t remove the VAT from your invoice.

United Kingdom
The United Kingdom assesses a 20% VAT on all B2C Lucid Software subscription purchases and renewals. If Lucid Software has your valid VAT number on file, we won't assess VAT on your invoices (reverse charge may apply).

United States
Lucid Software is required to charge and collect state and local taxes from customers located in the United States. These taxes are then remitted to the relevant state and local taxing authorities. The amount and type of tax collected depends on location, type of products and services purchased and specific state and local jurisdiction rules.
Customer ABN, GST, and VAT numbers
Lucid Software requires B2B customers to provide a valid VAT or GST number to avoid unnecessary tax charges in countries where Lucid is required to charge VAT or GST exclusively on B2C transactions. If this number is provided to Lucid prior to the issuance of your next invoice, no VAT or GST will be charged on that invoice or on subsequent invoices. However, if a VAT or GST number is not provided at the time of an invoice’s issuance, VAT or GST will be applied and will continue to be charged on future invoices until a valid number is submitted.

To add an ABN, GST, or VAT number to your account, follow these steps:
- Click your profile image or icon in the upper-right corner of your Lucid account.
- Click Account Settings.
- Select Plans & Billing from the menu on the left.
- Next to “Payment method”, select the three-dot icon.
- Select Edit payment method.
- Under "Payment method", select your billing country.

If you have a valid VAT or GST number and are unable to add it to your account, contact Lucid billing support.
US state and local tax exemption
Some nonprofit and government organizations may be exempt from state or local tax. If you have a certificate of tax exemption specific to the state or local jurisdiction in which you are located, you can submit documentation for review and approval using this billing support form.
