Datahub cloud inventory

See a full inventory of resources for your GCP, AWS, or Azure infrastructure in the datahub. This will require you to update your role permissions.

Credential permission process

The read-only role is now recommended instead of the custom role when creating credentials for GCP and Azure. This will help you to take the full benefit of cloud inventory and will make it an easier experience when adding more resources support. The custom role option is still available.

Views as tabs

It is now much easier to navigate between views in your models. Views are now displayed as a row of tabs across the top of your screen. If you have a large number of views, extra views will overflow to a drop-down menu at the far right. You can create new tabs or export view configurations using the plus and settings icons on the right as well.

Line descriptions

Find out how Lucidscale automatically generates line connections between your resources. Navigate to Lines in the left panel and edit an individual line type to see details on the logic behind it.

Sort by resource category

Newly created models and views will now default to sorting by resource category (e.g., compute) followed by resource type (e.g., EC2 instances). All existing sort options are still available in the Layout panel.

This feature allows you to select a list of resource groups prior to creating a model, resulting in a model with resources that meet the conditions you have selected.

Summarize resources

Simplify any of your Views directly from the canvas by hovering over any of your visible resources and clicking the “Summarize” button. This will collapse all resources of the same type into a single shape with the number of resources labeled. You can reverse the action on any summarized shape to view individual resources by clicking the “Un-summarize” button.

You can now create tag-focused models. This feature allows you to select a list of tags prior to creating a model, resulting in a model with resources that meet the tag condition you have selected. You can also create models with resources that don’t have any tags to quickly assess the state of tagging governance of your infrastructure.

Azure App Service Plans

Azure App Service Plans data can now be imported into Lucidscale using both CSV import and Azure AD Application import. App Service plans are shown in the workspace both in the Resources panel under the Web & Mobile category and on the canvas as container-like shapes containing Web Apps under Resource Groups.

Azure Databricks

Azure Databricks data can now be imported into Lucidscale using both CSV import and Azure AD Application import. Databrick shapes are shown in the workspace both in the Resources panel under the analytics category and on the canvas nested under Resource Groups.

JSON Update: Users can now replace JSON data in the Data Hub with an updated file. Once the JSON is updated, models referencing the data can be synced to the latest version of the data.
Custom user Datasource naming for JSON imports: Users can now rename JSON imports.
Feature Find: Users can now search for features in the Lucidscale workspace using Feature Find. Access Feature Find under “Help” in the main menu in the top-left corner of the workspace (near the model title) or by pressing Ctrl/Cmd + Space on the keyboard.

Lucidscale Launch

Lucidscale launched! Automatically generate cloud architecture diagrams from AWS, Azure, and GCP. To learn more about using Lucidscale, please visit this article.

Features

Data Hub: Manage and import datasets from your cloud providers. From within the data hub, you can see all your existing datasets, share existing datasets with other Lucidscale users in your organization, and update previously imported datasets. For more information on importing your data, check out our articles for importing from AWS, Azure, and GCP.
Custom Views: Create a new View that will save your model configurations. See the features below for different ways to customize your views. You can come back to the original view after a data refresh to have your settings restored.
Filters: Show only the resources that meet the criteria you need. You can filter by the shape data we bring in from your cloud provider.
Conditional Formatting: Highlight resources or add an icon based on the criteria you set. Rules can be set using the shape data we bring in from your cloud provider.
Lines: Draw lines automatically based on the relationship between two resources.
Layout controls: Make adjustments to the layout of your diagram, like grouping resource types, changing columns, alignment, and more.
Data panel: Access all the metadata we import from your cloud provider in the data panel, giving you data in the context of your diagram.
Export to Lucidchart: Create a Lucidchart Document with the current state of your cloud infrastructure. This feature is only available to Lucidscale users who also have a Lucidchart license.
